This holiday season brought us an opportunity to do what we love most: serve our community. I’m CJ Granados, owner of The Junk Medics, and I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to NBC 7 San Diego for shining a light on the incredible story of Amy Brown and her family, and for capturing a moment that reflects the core of what we’re all about.
At The Junk Medics, we don’t just remove junk; we believe in removing barriers, creating opportunities, and helping people reclaim not just their spaces but their lives. Amy’s story hit close to home. Like so many hardworking individuals, she found herself facing challenges that no one should have to endure—living in overcrowded conditions and struggling to keep her family together, even during the holiday season.
When I heard about her situation, I knew we had to step in alongside other compassionate La Mesa residents. Together, we raised funds to ensure Amy and her family could have a warm, safe place to stay during the holidays. It was humbling to witness how our community rallied to help a neighbor in need, demonstrating the power of unity and kindness.
Unfortunately, the path to recovery wasn’t without obstacles. The funds we raised were stolen during Amy’s check-in at the hotel. Thankfully, the hotel staff stepped in, honoring the reservation and making sure Amy’s family could still stay together. It was a reminder that while the journey isn’t always smooth, the generosity and determination of a community can overcome even the toughest setbacks.
To NBC 7, thank you for sharing this story and highlighting the resilience of Amy and the incredible compassion of the La Mesa community. Your coverage reminds us that small acts of kindness can have a ripple effect, inspiring others to step up and make a difference.
This experience reaffirms why The Junk Medics exists. While our business focuses on junk removal, our mission is about so much more. Whether it’s clearing a cluttered home, assisting a property owner, or giving back to our community, we’re here to serve with heart. As I often say, “It’s not just about the clutter—it’s about the people.” Stories like Amy’s motivate us to keep going, one act of service at a time.
If you’d like to join the ongoing effort to help Amy’s family, please consider contributing to the fundraiser. Every little bit helps her take one more step toward stability, and your generosity truly changes lives.
To our clients, neighbors, and friends, thank you for trusting us to be a part of your lives. And to the incredible team at NBC 7, thank you for capturing what community really means. Together, we’re building a stronger, more compassionate San Diego, one story—and one person—at a time.
With gratitude,
CJ Granados
